Our water is one of Leelanau County's greatest assets. Protecting it requires practical experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to serving the public.
Tim Lodge is running for Drain Commissioner because he believes we must invest wisely in the infrastructure that protects our lakes, rivers, neighborhoods, farms, and businesses. With a focus on responsible stewardship and long-term planning, Tim will work collaboratively with local governments, property owners, state agencies, engineers, and residents to solve today's challenges while preparing for tomorrow.

Get to know Tim Lodge
Tim Lodge has dedicated his 41 year career to developing practical solutions to even the most complicated public infrastructure problems and needs that challenge Michigan communities. His career in civil engineering has included more than 37 years as a licensed professional engineer.
A Leelanau County resident for nearly 35 years, Tim spent more than two decades working as the City Engineer for the City of Traverse City, helping plan, design, and manage more than $200M in infrastructure.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Michigan Technological University, where he developed the technical foundation that has guided his career in public service.
He understands that effective water management is about far more than pipes and drains. It is about protecting public health, preventing flooding, protecting property, preserving water quality, and making responsible investments that benefit future generations.
Tim's career has been built on solving problems, working collaboratively, and delivering practical solutions. As Drain Commissioner, he will bring professionalism, transparency, technical expertise, and accountability to every decision.
Priorities
Protecting Property to Reduce Flooding Risks
Changing weather patterns requires modern approaches to drainage management. Tim will work with communities to identify risks and implement resilient, cost-effective solutions.
Fiscal Responsibility
Every dollar should be spent wisely. Tim will prioritize projects based on need, and ensure decisions are transparent and fiscally responsible. Stormwater systems, drains, and culverts are essential public infrastructure. Tim believes proactive maintenance and smart capital planning save taxpayers money and reduce costly emergencies.
Protect Our Water Resources
Leelanau County's lakes, streams, wetlands. and groundwater define our quality of life. Tim will prioritize projects that are necessary to protect property, that improve water quality while balancing environmental protection with practical solutions.
Work Together
The Drain Commissioner's Office succeeds through collaboration. Tim believes in listening first, communicating clearly, and working with townships, cities, county officials, state agencies, engineers, and property owners to achieve the best outcomes.
